Two strikers to make way for Mabasa?

Kaizer Chiefs stand to earn up to R31.8 million if they go on to win this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Amakhosi are currently in the group stages of the competition and need just a draw to secure a historic first-ever place in the quarter-finals.

By reaching the group phase, the Soweto giants have already pocketed USD150,000 (approximately R2.4 million). Progressing to the last eight would see that figure rise to USD550,000 (about R8.7 million).

The financial rewards increase significantly in the latter stages. A semi-final berth is worth USD750,000 (around R11.9 million), while the runners-up will earn USD1 million (approximately R15.9 million). The eventual champions walk away with a lucrative USD2 million (roughly R31.8 million).

Kaizer Chiefs might be the biggest winners

Chiefs have enjoyed a solid campaign so far, particularly in the Betway Premiership, where they currently sit third on the log. Continued good form could see them push title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates all the way in what promises to be a tight race.

However, their primary focus appears to be continental success. Having won three consecutive matches in the group stages, Amakhosi have emerged as one of the teams to watch in this year’s tournament.

Victory over Zamalek would secure top spot in the group and potentially hand Kaizer Chiefs a more favourable draw in the quarter-finals.

With the Nedbank Cup campaign already over, the Soweto giants can now channel their full attention into the Confederation Cup. Given their current momentum and the stakes involved, Chiefs will believe they have what it takes to go all the way and claim both continental glory and the R31.8 million prize.

With Mamelodi Sundowns on the verge of CAF Champions League elimination, Amakhosi might be the biggest winners in Africa if they go all the way.

Can Chiefs win the Confed Cup?
