Last night, 19 July, marked the end of the 2026 World Cup. Millions of people were glued to their TV screens, rooting for either Argentina or Spain; however, the latter walked away with the coveted trophy!
Besides the soccer buzz, viewers were treated to the first-ever Halftime Show. Chris Martin from Coldplay orchestrated an eleven-minute medley featuring various artists. But who were they? Let’s find out!
WHO PERFORMED AT THE 2026 WORLD CUP FINAL?
Internet sensation IShowSpeed kicked off the show, and boy, did he deliver! His youthful energy and the colour coordination with his dancers was beautiful to watch.
He oozed confidence and showed impressive skill, especially in how he caught and kicked the ball.
Post Malone never disappoints with his live performances thanks to his magnetic stage presence. Rocking a denim cowboy outfit, he performed his new song, Chrome Heartbreaker.
Next up was the talented Swae Lee, joined once again by Post Malone as they performed their song, Sunflower.
THE SECOND SET
The festivities continued with a second set of performances, featuring musicians such as Jennifer Hudson, who looked stylish in white while singing the American national anthem.
Nicole Scherzinger Robbie Williams, and Laura Pausini then performed their FIFA anthem, Desire. The trio stunned in matching blue outfits, oozing unity.
The Spanish Brass performed the Spanish anthem while Maria Becerra performed the Argentinian one.
THE FIFA HALFTIME SHOW
Artists truly performed their hearts out at the first-ever FIFA Halftime Show, produced by Global Citizen.
Madonna put on an electrifying and nostalgic show, roping in Brazilian football legends Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
BTS shortly graced the stage, followed by Justin Bieber, who performed the acoustic rendition of his song, Everything Hallelujah.
Also, Shakira, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay, PS22 Chorus, and The Muppets made the first FIFA Halftime Show one for the books!
SHAKIRA’S INCREDIBLE WORLD CUP RUN
One thing about Shakira, she will score a World Cup gig. Not only was she part of last night’s Halftime Show, but she also performed at the opening ceremony on 11 June 2026. That same night, our very own Tyla delivered a brilliant performance.
Back in 2010, the Colombian-born artist collaborated with Freshlyground on the official anthem, Waka Waka, for the World Cup held in South Africa.
This song enjoyed a resounding success and remains an African classic even years after its release.
