They recently sat in the Kaizer Chiefs dugout. Next season, one of them could find themselves plotting against Amakhosi from the opposite technical area.
Cedric Kaze recently parted ways with the Soweto giants.
He has quickly emerged as a candidate for a coaching role at Betway Premiership rivals Sekhukhune United.
Meanwhile, another former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, is also reported to be in the running for the Babina Noko hotseat.
So, who will replace Eric Tinkler at Sekhukhune United next season?
KAZE ON SEKHUKHUNE’S RADAR FOLLOWING CHIEFS RUN
According to reports, the club has shortlisted Cedric Kaze for the position.
“Cedric Kaze is one of the coaches who has been mentioned when discussions about the future have taken place. The club is looking at different profiles, and his name is among those being looked at,” Soccer Laduma reported.
The interest comes after a season of clear progress at Naturena.
Working alongside Khalil Ben Youssef, Kaze helped guide Kaizer Chiefs to a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership.
That represented a significant improvement on the club’s 10th-place finish the previous season under Nasreddine Nabi.
As a result, Kaizer Chiefs secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The technical team also delivered several notable performances against the league’s top sides.
Kaizer Chiefs held both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to 1-1 draws during crucial stages of the title race.
ANOTHER EX-AMAKHOSI COACH IN THE FRAME
However, Kaze faces strong competition for the role.
Another former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, has also emerged as a candidate.
Zwane was in charge of the Glamour Boys between June 2021 and 2023.
“Arthur is still one of the main names because of what he achieved at AmaZulu, and the people at Sekhukhune know his work very well. But Cedric is also highly regarded, and the club is assessing different possibilities before making any decisions,” the source added.
Zwane enhanced his reputation during the 2025/26 campaign.
He guided AmaZulu to an impressive fourth-place finish in the Betway Premiership and firmly re-established himself as one of the league’s most respected local coaches.
Consequently, Sekhukhune United face an intriguing decision.
Whether they opt for Kaze’s recent success at Kaizer Chiefs or Zwane’s impressive work at AmaZulu, Sekhukhune United appear determined to appoint a coach capable of building on last season’s progress where they finished fifth in the standings.
