
The race for the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals reaches its conclusion over the next two days, with four Round of 16 matches still to be played across the United States and Canada.
The opening knockout fixtures have already delivered drama, shock results and plenty of goals. Now eight more nations will battle for the final four places in the last eight.

- Switzerland vs Colombia – Tuesday, 7 July, 22:00 – BC Place, Vancouver, Canada
Monday’s standout fixture is the latest chapter in the fierce rivalry between Portugal and Spain, while tournament co-hosts the United States will be aiming to keep their World Cup dream alive against an experienced Belgium side.
Tuesday’s programme is headlined by defending champions Argentina, who face Egypt as Lionel Messi continues his bid to retain the trophy. The final Round of 16 clash will see Switzerland take on an impressive Colombia side in Vancouver.
OPENING ROUND OF 16 SET THE TONE
The remaining teams have plenty to live up to after an entertaining start to the knockout phase.
Morocco cruised past co-hosts Canada with a commanding 3-0 victory, while France edged Paraguay 1-0 to secure their place in the quarter-finals.
There was also a major upset as Norway knocked out Brazil with a 2-1 win. England then survived a tense contest to beat Mexico 3-2 despite finishing the match with 10 men.
The four winners from the remaining Round of 16 fixtures will complete the quarter-final line-up. Addintionally, the next stage of the FIFA World Cup gets underway on 9 July.
