Exclusive: Latest Update on Coetzee’s Future

Posted on January 18, 2026

Player agent Mike Makaab has provided an update on the future of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee.

The 29-year-old utility player departed Masandawana at the end of the previous season, parting ways with the club after an eight-season stint in Chloorkop.

Coetzee has been without a club for over six months and he was training on his own to improve his fitness levels.

According to Makaab, Coetzee is now back on the pitch, training with Sekhukhune as they prepare for the challenging second round of the 2025/26 season.

He added that Babina Noko have yet to make a decision as the player continues to focus on improving his fitness.

“Rivaldo is training at Sekhukhune, he’s now training with the team,” Makaab told iDiski Times.

“We’re hoping that it will take him a few weeks to get to certain level of fitness, and then the team can then decide.”

The Limpopo outfit has already welcomed former Bafana Bafana midfielder Lebohang Phiri, Ivorian-born winger Amede Tidiane Diomande, and Lehlohonolo Mojela as their January signings.

They have welcomed back Andy Boyeli, whose loan stint at Young Africans was terminated, while the club parted ways with Miguel Timm, who subsequently joined Cape Town City
