CT City Cut Gap, Milford Drop Pts

Cape Town City secured massive three points away from home beating Lerumo Lions 1-0 while table-toppers Milford FC dropped points after suffering a defeat at home to Midlands Wanderers with the same scoreline.

The Motsepe Foundation Championship title race is more exciting, like all the previous seasons. On Friday, both Casric Stars and Kruger United were in action with the aim of putting more pressure on Milford.

Kruger United hammered Venda FC 3-1 with Aphiwe Mphothe and Celimpilo Ngema scored in the first half for United. Ciniso Mazibuko pulled one back for VFC. While they were pushing for an equalizer, they left spaces behind, and Mphothe scored the third goal for United, completing his brace. Kruger are now level on points with Milford, both having 36 points.

Following their massive win against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup, Casric Stars narrowly beat The Bees 1-0. Lifa Makua scored the only goal in the second half as Stars remained in fourth place, just two points behind the number one spot.

Milford suffered their first home defeat since October 2025. The league leaders lost to struggling Wanderers with the KwaZulu-Natal-based side scoring in the second half through Vincent Myeni. This win moved Wanderers three points clear of the relegation zone.

Relegation is looming for Limpopo-based sides after Baroka FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to Pretoria University. Bakgakga remained in 15th place while Black Leopards have gone nine league matches without a win after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home against Hungry Lions. Lidoda Duvha remain in 16th place, eight points behind safety.

City extended their unbeaten run to nine matches after Dženan Zajmovič scored a late winner, which sent them to third place with 35 points, just one point behind Milford.

Results:

Kruger United 3-1 Venda FC
Highbury FC 2-0 Gomora United
Casric Stars 1-0 The Bees
Milford FC 0-1 Midlands Wanderers
Black Leopards 1-2 Hungry Lions
Pretoria University 1-0 Baroka FC
Upington City 1-0 Leicesterford City
Lerumo Lions 0-1 Cape Town City
