BAFANA BAFANA AIMING TO BUILD CONFIDENCE
Bafana Bafana return to action carrying both confidence and expectation under coach Hugo Broos. Qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has brought genuine excitement back around the national team after years of frustration, with South Africa set to appear at the global showpiece for the first time since hosting the tournament in 2010.

After such a draining local season, Broos is expected to focus heavily on attacking fluency and movement against a Nicaragua side likely to defend deep.

NICARAGUA LOOKING FOR REBUILDING SIGNS
Ranked 131st in the FIFA world rankings, Nicaragua are rebuilding under new coach Juan Cruz Real after failing to qualify for the World Cup. Their youthful squad, mostly aged between 20 and 25, has struggled badly for consistency, managing just one victory in the last eight internationals.
Still, this first-ever meeting with South Africa offers valuable experience for the Central Americans. On paper though, Bafana remain heavy favourites, especially against a defence that has conceded at least twice in five of its last six matches.
