The 27-year-old arrives on a two-year contract with an option for a further season. He becomes Orlando Pirates‘ eighth signing ahead of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
The move comes after weeks of speculation linking Pedersen with the South African champions. He now joins Abdeslam Ouaddou’s squad as the Buccaneers continue strengthening ahead of a busy domestic and continental season.
SEBASTIAN PEDERSEN JOINS ORLANDO PIRATES
Announcing the transfer on Sunday, the club said: “Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of striker Sebastian Pedersen from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball.”
The club also confirmed the length of the deal: “The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the Club holding an option to extend for a further season.”
Pedersen arrives with an impressive pedigree. The striker represented Norway at every junior international level from Under-15 through to Under-21.
Across the last four-and-a-half seasons with Sogndal and Moss FK, he has scored 51 goals and contributed eight assists in 117 appearances.
THE BUCCANEERS CONTINUE REBUILD
Describing their new signing, Orlando Pirates highlighted Pedersen’s goalscoring qualities. “In terms of his style of play, Pedersen is considered a one-touch finisher rather than a bulldozer.”
The Norwegian forward becomes the Buccaneers’ eighth signing of the current transfer window. He follows after Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Sbangani Zulu, Matome Mmolai, Bohale Ngwato, Ghampani Lungu, Neo Rapoo and Aphiwe Baliti, who has since returned to Siwelele FC on loan.
Pedersen has now boosted Bucs’ strike force. Ouaddou will hope the new-look Orlando Pirates side can challenge for silverware in the Betway Premiership and on the continental stage.
In the meantime, the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season kicks off this Saturday. The Sea Robbers will be at home to newcomers Milford FC. The game kicks off at 15:00 from the Orlando Amstel Arena.
