Bafana Bafana’s road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be staged across Mexico, the United States and Canada, has taken another step forward after the official squad list confirmed the jersey numbers that will be worn by Hugo Broos‘ players at football’s biggest tournament.
Several of the squad’s established stars have retained their familiar numbers, while a number of younger players have been entrusted with shirts traditionally associated with key roles in the national team.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG HANDED ICONIC NO. 10 JERSEY
One of the standout selections sees Orlando Pirates sensation Relebohile Mofokeng allocated the coveted No. 10 jersey.
The 21-year-old has become one of the country’s brightest prospects and will carry significant expectations as one of Bafana Bafana’s main attacking threats at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Burnley striker Lyle Foster takes the No. 9 shirt, while veteran midfielder Themba Zwane will wear No. 11.
Captain Ronwen Williams remains South Africa’s first-choice goalkeeper and retains the No. 1 jersey, with Sipho Chaine (16) and Ricardo Goss (22) providing goalkeeping cover.
