Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, a result that saw Amakhosi remain third on the Betway Premiership table with 46 points after 24 matches.

The match had its chances at both ends, but neither side could find the breakthrough, with Chiefs seeing their five-match winning run come to an end away from home.

Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe, however, was left unimpressed after the final whistle, not just with the result, but with the Man of the Match decision.

MOHAFE QUESTIONS KAIZER CHIEFS MIDFIELDER’S AWARD

Mohafe felt his side did enough to control the game, especially in midfield, where he believed they managed to keep Chiefs quiet.

He singled out Lebohang Maboe, questioning how the midfielder walked away with the individual award on the night. “And in the middle, we neutralized Maboe, we neutralized Cele,” said Mohafe.

“And I’m so confused how Maboe got the Man of the Match. He was nowhere to be seen. Whenever he got the ball, we were there, we won most of the balls from him. So how can you be Man of the Match losing the balls?”

CITY COACH BACKS HIS OWN PLAYERS

Mohafe instead pointed to his own players as more deserving candidates after their performance.

He highlighted Tlou Nkwe and Mokibelo Ramabu as two players who caused problems for Chiefs and stood out on the night. “Let’s go back to who was marking Maboe,” he added.

“You have Nkwe on the left side, he deserves it. You have Ramabu on the right, he gave them problems. He deserves it.

“So why not give them the Man of the Match?” Mohafe concluded.
