Chippa United also completed the permanent signing of Goodman Mosele from Orlando Pirates. The midfielder has been named the new club captain after spending last season on loan in Gqeberha.
BRANDON TRUTER BEGINS NEW ERA
Chippa United have signed striker Ntuthuko Mlotshwa, centre-back Tshepang Makara, central defender Obakhe Tshaya, and left-back Imraan Jones.
The club also strengthened midfield with Muhammad Carrim, Daba Diakité, and Lebohang Tshabalala. Striker Muzomuhle Khanyi has also joined on loan from Stellenbosch FC.
The arrivals come after the club released 16 players. The move is part of a major rebuild ahead of the new season. Truter earned a permanent contract after helping the club avoid the promotion-relegation playoffs last season.
He took charge for the final match of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign. His side defeated Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 to secure their top-flight status.
CHIPPA UNITED REBUILD FOR NEW SEASON
Truter will lead the rebuilt squad into the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, thanks to his successful emergency spell at the end of the previous campaign. He was initially appointed on a short-term deal for the club’s final league match.
The coach guided Chippa United to a crucial 1-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs. The result secured the club’s top-flight status and helped them avoid the promotion-relegation playoffs.
Club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi later handed Truter a full contract. The decision followed discussions about the club’s long-term football vision. He will now oversee the team’s full pre-season and the entire 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
Truter also faces the task of bringing stability to a club that has changed coaches regularly in recent years. The experienced coach is known for his organised defensive approach.
He wants to build a balanced squad by combining the club’s new signings with experienced professionals. His immediate focus will be improving the team’s defensive structure and converting more chances in front of goal.
The new season kicks off away to Golden Arrows on Saturday 1 August at 15:00 at the Princess Magogo Stadium, Durban.
