Cameroon national team coach David Pagou has responded to Hugo Broos’ claims about how Bafana Bafana faired in the sides’ last 16 round match at the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
Pagou’s Indomitable Lions were clinical as they knocked out Broos’ Bafana Bafana from the tournament with a 2-1 score-line and securing a last eight clash with the host nation in the process. After the game the Belgian expressed disappointment in his side’s elimination from the tournament but was pleased with the performance.
Pagou said the knockout stage is about goals and not about possession while he felt his side wasn’t exactly troubled by Bafana.
“Football is about goals,” said Pagou.
“In the knockout stage you don’t focus on the game, you can have possession for 90 minutes to show for it. Bafana was strong on the ball, but we defended well and not a bother to us.
“We are a team that is a work in progress, we will improve as we progress together in this tournament.”
