Kaizer Chiefs striker Khanyisa Mayo has dropped a big hint as to where he’ll be playing his football next season.
Mayo hints at Kaizer Chiefs stay?
Via Goal, Khanyisa Mayo has stated that he could stay at Chiefs beyond his current loan spell. The former Cape Town City man scored twice in 10 league appearances for Chiefs in the 2025-26 season.
“With Mayo, it will also depend on the technical team,” the source added.
“If the club changes the coaches, maybe the new ones will keep him. But maybe if the current technical team stays, it could be a difficult story for him, and he could be going back to his team in Algeria.”
With Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze having already left, Mayo might fancy his chances of working his way into the next coach’s plans. The same publication envisages a big clearout at Chiefs this winter.

As many as 10 first-team players could leave as the club’s rebuild continues apace. This comes after the expected confirmation of exits for co-coaches Youssef and Kaze. Ashley du Preez, Khanyisa Mayo, George Matlou, Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Etiosa Ighodaro, Happy Mashiane, Samkelo Zwane, Paseka Mako and Tashreeq Morris are all in jeopardy of leaving. Bradley Cross is the sole Chiefs representative in the 26-man Bafana squad.
