Sekhukhune United came from 2-0 down to defeat TS Galaxy 3-2 in a five-goal MTN 8 quarter-finals thriller at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening and also progress to the semi-finals.

It was the visitors who drew blood first in the 14th minute from a Mpho Mvelase header. Galaxy had won a set-piece Nhlanhla Magaga stepped up and sent it to Khulumani Ndamane who missed the target but Mvelase was there to bury the rebound.

The home side could have levelled in the 30th minute through new signing Bradley Grobler but his header was an easy save for the visiting goalkeeper. They had another chance from Olerato Mandi five minutes later but his effort went over the bar.

The Rockets doubled their lead in the 41st minute after Victor Letsoalo benefitted from Renaldo Leaner’s mistake. But the celebrations were short cut when Babina Noko pulled one back through Grobler after his side had won a corner.

At the start of the second half Sekhukhune made two changes brining on Linda Mntambo for Mandi and Thabang Monare for Miguel Timm.

Galaxy almost got their third goal but Mvelase missed the target twice in the opening 10 minutes of the stanza. It was Sekhukhune who equalised through Grobler from a Mntambo cross in the 63rd minute.

Six minutes from that the home side took the lead for the first time and the winner through Vusimizi Mncube.
