A former Kaizer Chiefs star is hoping to resurrect his career at an amateur club.
Just six months ago, he was playing professionally at one of the country’s biggest teams.
His disappointing spell at Chiefs however has had lasting implications on his career.
Now, this former Bafana Bafana midfielder has joined an ABC Motsepe League side. Here’s all the key details below.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star joins third division side
Mduduzi Mdantsane has completed a move to Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Phezulu FC.
Mdantsane has been unemployed since being released by Kaizer Chiefs back in July 2025.
The former Baroka FC and Cape Town City star himself has confirmed his latest move.
“I’m thrilled to join Phezulu FC. The club has shown incredible form this season, and I’m here to contribute and help the team achieve its goals. It’s an opportunity to give back to the game and inspire the younger players around me,” Mdantsane told Emba Community Newspaper as quoted by FARPost.
Mdantsane joined Kaizer Chiefs back in 2023 from Cape Town City with high expectations.
Unfortunately for him, his time at Naturena was marred by off-field issues.
He made just 16 appearances for the club before being released two years later.
Mdantsane’s numbers in the PSL
Mduduzi Mdantsane has made a total of 215 professional appearances.
He has 33 goals and 20 assists to his name. Two of his assists came at Kaizer Chiefs while the bulk of it came at Baroka and City.
Mdantsane is only 31-year-old and still has lots to offer. He’ll be hoping for some consistency out in Mpumalanga.
A number of PSL teams will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on how things go for him at Phezulu FC.
