iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has praised Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams saying the player did a lot of work to break Orlando Pirates in the top-of-the-table clash at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
With the 24-year-old marshalling the midfield, Sundowns won the game 2-1 to stay in second place on the Betway Premiership log but with a narrowed point gap and a game in hand.
Adams has started four times in the side’s last five matches ahead of Marcello Allende and Khanye says Adams has proven why he deserves to start ahead of the South American.
“Can I just compliment Jayden Adams,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“The guy played well and you see why Marcello Allende is starting on the bench because the dimension he brings to Sundowns is playing forward passes.
“He also brought improved energy. The boy has balanced that, and he was breaking the Pirates lines.”
Adams experienced a dip in form for quite some time and simultaneously fell out of favour at Chloorkop, something that cost him his place in the national team by being left out of the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
He has since bounced back strongly controlling the Sundowns engine room with impressive performances that has reminded everyone why the Tshwane giants spent big on him after snapping him up from Stellenbosch FC.
With the 2026 FIIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada underway this year, Adams will be hoping to remain consistent and force his way back into Hugo Broos’ team.
