Barker Targets Impressive Record Against Ramovic

Posted on November 11, 2025

The CAF Confederation Cup group stages will see familiar faces in Steve Barker and Sead Ramovic facing each other.

The CAFCC draw has seen Stellenbosch FC been drawn with Sead Ramovic’s CR Belouizdad, AS Otoho and Singida Black Stars.

Out of the eight meetings between the two coaches, Ramovic has never won a single match against Barker with the Stellies mentor hoping that the dominance will continue even in the CAFCC so that they can make it to the knockout stages.

“We’ve worked hard to get to where we are,” Barker told the media.

“We’ve worked hard to be in the group stages, first of all, by finishing third, then by getting through the preliminary stage.

“So, I’ve always believed and I’ve always had a mentality that you’re trying to win every game that you play, every game is a high priority.

“But CAFCC campaign, I think we need to use wisely this season to be a catalyst for improving our league form. But looking at the group, interesting group, would be nice to play against Mr. Ramovic again.

“Hopefully the form we had against Galaxy continues when he was there. Unfortunately, that was broken recently.

“But yeah, looking forward, it’s a big club. Singida, also a good team in Tanzania, so looking forward to that and then our opposition from Congo will also pose a threat to us.

“So, it’ll be nice to just have a break, refresh and look forward to another campaign.”
