Mamelodi Sundowns are in talks to sign Bafana Bafana defender Khulumani Ndamane from TS Galaxy.
Ndamane, 21, was one of the breakout stars of the 2024/25 season when he joined Galaxy from Kaizer Chiefs and went on to break into the senior national team and make his debut in the 0-0 draw over Tanzania last month.
The towering left-footed centre-back was touted as a prospect to lookout for by national team head coach Hugo Broos months prior to his debut call-up but his missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to not having a passport at the time.
However, his consistent displays continued throughout the campaign and it came as no surprise to see the likes of Sundowns and Orlando Pirates show interest in the defender, while Romanian giants FCSB were also in the picture.
But an initial approach of a loan with an option to make the deal permanent was not entertained and Sundowns have since taken the lead for his services ahead of the new season.
Masandawana have been aiming to secure a long-term solution in his role, with the recent loan move to Lucas Suarez seemingly not fulfilling their needs as he returned to Argentina, after not taking up their option.
There’s been suggestions that Ndamane could return to Galaxy on loan for the campaign, should the move be completed, but this has now been ruled out by sources close to the Rockets.
Ndamane featured 27 times for Galaxy last season, missing only two games since making his debut on October 2024.
