Former Orlando Pirates youngsters Relebohile Mofokeng and Mbekezeli Mbokazi could be worth a combined €25 million in the coming transfer windows as interest in their services continues to grow.
Both players rose through the Buccaneers’ development structures before earning promotion to the senior team, where their performances attracted attention beyond South Africa.
Mofokeng joined the Pirates first team in 2023 and went on to make more than 100 appearances, scoring 29 goals.
His impressive performances earned him three major individual honours at the PSL Awards last season: Players’ Player of the Season, Footballer of the Season and Young Player of the Season.
His progress subsequently earned him a move to Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, where he has continued to attract attention.
The 21-year-old is reportedly valued at around €6 million and has been linked with clubs in France and Germany, as reported by Siseko Gwegwe.
His performance has raised the possibility of another move as early as next year. He has enjoyed life at Union and scored on his debut match in the UEFA Europa League.
Orlando Pirates ex-players shining overseas
Mbokazi, meanwhile, joined Pirates’ youth structures in 2024 before being promoted to the senior team in 2025. After making a strong impression during his time with the Buccaneers, the defender secured a move to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.
The Bafana Bafana international has continued to attract attention in the United States, with his performances reportedly putting him on the radar of several European clubs.
Mbokazi is currently valued at around €8 million, but that figure could rise to at least €15 million in the next transfer window if interest in the defender translates into concrete offers.
Should the reported valuations materialise, the two former Pirates players could command a combined transfer fee of approximately €25 million.
For Orlando Pirates, the rise of Mofokeng and Mbokazi underlines the potential value of developing young talent, with both players now building careers abroad after progressing through the club’s youth system.
