Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of Mohau Nkota on a season-long loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittifaq.
The 21-year-old winger returns to the Buccaneers just over a year after leaving the club for a reported fee of around R50 million.
Al-Ittifaq confirmed on Thursday that Nkota had been loaned to Pirates for the 2026/27 season.
The move sees Nkota become the Buccaneers’ 10th signing of the transfer window, while he will also reunite with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
The pair briefly worked together last July during pre-season before Nkota completed his move to Saudi Arabia a week later.
“Al-Ittifaq club management has agreed to loan player Mohau Nkota to Orlando Pirates club for one season,” the Saudi club confirmed on social media.
Nkota’s return could provide Pirates with another attacking option as they chase domestic success and, most importantly, the elusive CAF Champions League title.
How Orlando Pirates could line up with Nkota
Sipho Chaine is expected to remain the first-choice goalkeeper, with Nkosinathi Sibisi and Lebone Seema forming the central defensive partnership.
Kamogelo Sebelebele could start at right-back, while Deon Hotto is expected to feature on the left, particularly in the club’s bigger matches.
In midfield, Thalente Mbatha’s injury could see Thapelo Mokobodi and Mthetheleli Mthiyane take up central roles, with Simphiwe Selepe or Camren Dansin also competing for a starting spot.
On the left wing, Tshepang Moremi and Oswin Appollis could battle for a starting position, while Nkota is expected to slot in on the right.
Up front, Yanela Mbuthuma could lead the line.
