The former AmaZulu FC Director of Football arrives at Sundowns with extensive experience in recruitment, squad planning and technical leadership.
According to iDiski Times journalist Lorenz Kohler, Dias played a key role in shaping AmaZulu’s football strategy. His responsibilities included player recruitment, squad planning and overseeing the club’s technical direction.
PEDRO DIAS BRINGS GLOBAL EXPERIENCE
Before joining Mamelodi Sundowns, Dias established himself as one of the most respected football administrators in the game.
He previously worked with Sporting Clube Lourinhanense in Portugal, FirstPoint USA, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Toronto FC. He also holds elite coaching qualifications through the Football Federation Australia and the Asian Football Confederation.
His experience stretches beyond coaching, with a strong background in recruitment, youth development and long-term football planning.
SUNDOWNS STRENGTHEN RECRUITMENT STRUCTURE
As Head of Scouting, Dias will oversee Mamelodi Sundowns’ entire recruitment network.
His role includes identifying transfer targets, managing domestic and international scouting operations, analysing player data and ensuring new signings fit the club’s tactical philosophy and long-term vision.
He will also play an important role in connecting the club’s academy with the first team, helping identify young talent capable of making the step up to senior football.
The appointment underlines Sundowns’ commitment to building for the future. While the club continues to dominate the Betway Premiership, it is also investing heavily behind the scenes to maintain its position among Africa’s elite clubs.
With Dias now leading the scouting department, Sundowns have added another experienced football mind as they continue their pursuit of domestic success and further CAF Champions League glory.
