Hugo Broos’ Bafana World Cup squad didn’t raise too many eyebrows. Kaizer Chiefs have one representative, and there might be a Londoner gunning for us.
Cross is heading to the World Cup
Hugo Broos on Wednesday announced his 26-man squad to tackle World Cup Group A in the Americas. Left-sided defender Bradley Cross is the sole Chiefs representative in the group. Young USA MLS-based Olwethu Makhanya and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have also been included. Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly, also a left-sided player, seems to be an undercover Bafana supporter after rocking the green away jersey. Meanwhile, the Gunners teenager was left out of England’s squad, so he’ll have some time on his hands during the tournament. Will he be adopting South Africa as his second team? First, Lewis-Skelly’s focus will be on Arsenal’s Champions League final date with holders Paris Saint-Germain. PSG vs Arsenal kicks off on Saturday, 30 May at 18:00 SA time.
