It’s been a 22-year wait, but Arsenal are finally champions of England again. The Gunners finished the 2025-26 campaign seven points ahead of nearest challengers Man City. It’s their first crown since the infamous Invincibles stormed to the title in 2004, going unbeaten in the process. Lewis-Skelly started the season as a bit-part player, but in the latter stages, manager Mikel Arteta deployed him as a central midfielder in a Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid. Previously, Lewis-Skelly had been a specialist left-back. Arsenal meet holders PSG in Saturday’s Champions League final. Bafana to announce final World Cup squad
FIFA requires that all World Cup squads be finalised between 25 May and 1 June. Bafana is to announce its final squad on Wednesday, 27 May. South Africa kicks off its campaign against Mexico on 11 June at Mexico City’s iconic Estadio Azteca in the tournament’s opening clash. Their other Group A opponents are South Korea and Czechia. Lewis-Skelly wasn’t picked for the England squad despite picking up form towards the back end of the club campaign. The likes of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Wharton also didn’t make the cut, which illustrates the depth at manager Thomas Tuchel’s disposal.
