Zwane Makes Bold Richards Bay Claim Ahead Of NBC Tie

Posted on February 20, 2026

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane has made a bold statement about his side’s opponents, Richards Bay ahead of their Nedbank Cup Round of 16 clash.

The two teams are set to meet on Friday at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex, with a place in the quarterfinals at stake. Both sides will be eager to advance further in the competition and keep their cup ambitions alive.

The Natal Rich Boyz secured a 2–0 victory over Usuthu in their last encounter in the Betway Premiership in November last year.

Zwane acknowledged that Richards Bay go into the match as strong favourites, pointing out that they will be playing at home and previously defeated AmaZulu at the same venue.

“We’re playing against a very difficult team to be quite honest,” said Zwane.

“Remember the last time we played them in the league game, they beat us 2-0. This time again we’re visiting them actually.

“So, looking at how they play, even in the cup competition against Siwelele, they scored three goals. And that alone, tells you about their firepower.

“The threat that they pose, going forward whenever you give them opportunities, they will hurt you. They have a very good team, very young energetic team that capitalises on your mistakes, if you give them enough room, time and space on the ball.

“We’re going to have to bring our A game. They come to the game as favourites, playing at home. Last game, we played there, they beat us 2-0.”
