Youssef On Missed Chiefs Chances

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has admitted to having some worries regarding his side not being clinical in front of goal.

The statement comes on the back of Chiefs’ 2-1 victory over Egypt’s Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

After breaking the deadlock, Chiefs created more chances but missed most of those with Mduduzi Shabalala and Pule Mmodi the culprits especially towards the end of the game.

Youssef believes in such cases credit should be given to the opposition’s goalkeeper who did the work of denying his side goals but felt his players cannot be blamed as they will rectify their mistakes in training.

“I think when you’re in a one vs one situation you have to say congratulations for the keeper of the opponent team,” said Youssef.

“And I think Shabalala he did his job and he made the right decision, but great performance for the keeper. For Mmodi, he got also two opportunities to score. He was unlucky. I think it’s a clear penalty the second one. I don’t know, I have to check again the game.

“But what we can do, we have to continue to work. We have to continue to work specific work with our analysts to see again the different situation. And we have to continue to work.

“The only solution that can allow for us to score our opportunity is to continue to work in the training session.”
