Why Are Grobler & Lorch Not In Bafana? Broos Responds

Posted on October 7, 2025

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has declined to comment on the exclusion of in-form duo Thembinkosi Lorch and Bradley Grobler in the national team.

Broos’ charges are perhaps preparing for their biggest matches of their lives which will determine their fate if they qualify or miss out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

‘Nyoso’ has been in fine form for Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca this season and notched up an assist and a superb goal to see them dispatch CODM Meknes 3-1 this past weekend.

The ‘Sniper’ on the other hand tops the Betway Premiership goalscoring charts, joint with Iqraam Rayners of Mamelodi Sundowns on six goals, with the Sekhukhune United goal poacher also recording his name on the scoresheet in their Carling Knockout Cup defeat to Golden Arrows.

Quizzed on why the two players are not in the team, the Belgian tactician opted not to respond saying: “Look, I will not answer any more of those questions.

“Not because I don’t want it, but every selection you can mention some players who are not there, and I don’t like to give every time an explanation to why they’re not there.

“You know, I have sources. I have to make sources because we have many good players now. I can make two teams even maybe three teams, so I have to make sources.

“I’m very sorry but I’m not gonna explain you every time why is not Grobler there why is the other [Lorch] not there, no!

“This is a selection and that’s it.”
