Where do Kaizer Chiefs get all of their money?

Posted on October 13, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs always seem capable of paying big salaries and impressive transfer fees even through a lengthy trophy drought.

The amounts roll in even though last season’s Nedbank Cup is the club’s only trophy in a decade.

How does that work?

Kaizer Chiefs remain relevant and marketable

Kaizer Chiefs Football Club makes a lot of money from merch and ticket sales. There’s also a sky-high demand to watch their matches through TV subscription services. Imagine how many fans get DStv Compact purely to watch the mighty Glamour Boys? These aren’t the only factors, but it’s clear why Chiefs are still a massive institution despite their long Betway Premiership title drought. As long as there are millions of Kaizer Chiefs fans, the club will stay relevant.

Big cash injection

Polokwane Municipality’s Sports and Recreation Manager, Mantlako Sebaka, has defended the authority’s decision to lease Peter Mokaba Stadium to Kaizer Chiefs.  Amakhosi and the municipality have entered into a R16 million deal, seeing Chiefs bring six matches over the next two campaigns to the 45,000-seater stadium.

History still counts

Let’s not forget the club’s 55 trophies in their storied history, including 13 league crowns. They’re also, by far and away, the most followed club in the land. Next up

Can Kaizer Chiefs afford Pitso?

Bankrolled by Sundowns’ seemingly limitless funds, Mosimane had more wriggle-room in the transfer market. That won’t be his situation at Chiefs where spending power isn’t on that level, and this is assuming they can even afford his considerable wage demands as a coach.

Is Pitso a candidate for the job?
