Fight before kick-off sparks fury from Kaizer Chiefs coach

Kaizer Chiefs are striving to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup as they can no longer clinch the Betway Premiership trophy this season.

So, let’s take a look at what they need to do to finish in the all-important third place and achieve this goal.

Strong finish required

As things stand, Amakhosi are well on track to finish third. They currently sit in that position in the latest Betway Premiership standings with just four matches remaining.

Kaizer Chiefs are five points clear of fourth-placed AmaZulu.

Amakhosi are on 47 points from 26 matches, while Usuthu find themselves on 42 points from the same amount of matches played.

Let’s break down what Kaizer Chiefs need to do to finish the season on the bottom step of the ‘podium’.

Amakhosi need eight points from their remaining four fixtures to guarantee that they finish the 2025/26 season in third position.

The Soweto giants must either win three of their last four matches or win two and draw two of their remaining fixtures.

The pressure is on Amakhosi to bounce back from their surprise 2-0 loss to Siwelele FC when they travel to Loftus Versfeld to face defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in their next match.

If Kaizer Chiefs lose and AmaZulu beat Golden Arrows, then their will be just two points separating the sides heading into the final three rounds of action.

Therefore, it’s important that Amakhosi are at their best against Masandawana.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates fans will be hoping that Kaizer Chiefs can do them a favour so that they stay alive in the title race.

Adding extra spice to the battle is that AmaZulu will host Kaizer Chiefs in their penultimate match of the season.
