What Chiefs Need To Qualify

After Kaizer Chiefs beat Al-Masry SC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, they still need to get a result away at Zamalek in Egypt next week.

Amakhosi moved to the top of Group D with 10 points after securing three successive wins, with just one match remaining.

There was an upset in the other group fixture, with ZESCO United – who had zero points so far – beating Zamalek 1-0 at home.

As a consequence, the Egyptian giants remained on eight points in second place, one ahead of Al-Masry in third with seven.

Chiefs now need at least a point at Zamalek in order to secure their spot in the knockout stages, while a defeat would likely mean they could still be knocked out if Al-Masry beat ZESCO in the other fixture.

Updated log:

  • 1) Kaizer Chiefs | 10 pts | +2
  • 2) Zamalek | 8 pts | +1
  • 3) Al-Masry | 7 pts | +0
  • 4) ZESCO United | 3 pts | -3
