Tito Warns Pirates Faithful About Premature League Joy

Posted on December 12, 2025

Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi has urged the club’s supporters not to celebrate the league title prematurely, reminding them that a similar situation unfolded last season.

The Buccaneers have already lifted two trophies this season—the MTN8 and, more recently, the Carling Knockout Cup.

They currently sit atop the Betway Premiership, holding a game in hand and a two-point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

With their impressive form, they appear poised to challenge the dominance of the Brazilians, who have claimed the league title eight seasons in a row but are struggling somewhat this season.

Maswanganyi says the squad is driven by a strong desire to win the league, something Pirates have not achieved since 2012.

However, he cautions that despite being at the summit, celebrations are premature, noting that they were in a similar position last season and failed to secure the title.

“Definitely [we want to win the league] but also as players we want to win all the trophies that are left,” said Maswanganyi in the SNAWA on Metro FM.

“Unfortunately, we’re out of the Champions League, which was one of our goals, to win it. We’re left with two and we want to try to take them all.

“With fans also, they shouldn’t be already celebrating because we’ve been in this position before last season. And at the end of the season, we were not there.

“So, we want to take it one game at a time. They should also do the same.”
