Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Selwyn Stevens is currently on trial at French Ligue 2 side AS Saint-Étienne.
Stevens, 17, has been touted as a major prospect at the club since being lured to Gauteng from Cape Town Spurs’ academy in 2024.
He’s been an ever-present figure in the junior national team set-up from the U15, U17 and now graduating to the Amajita set-up, having been part of the squad that recently won the Cosafa Region 5 Games in Namibia earlier this month.
The left-footed midfielder is currently training with the reserve side, who campaign in the fifth-tier of French football, at the club famed for it’s youth development with Grégory Coupet, Willy Sagnol and Bafétimbi Gomis among the notable icons of the academy.
Stevens is set to turn 18 in February 2026, when he will be officially eligible to join a club in Europe, and it remains to be seen whether he impresses to earn with 10-time Ligue 1 winners.
