Stellies take Kaizer Chiefs to different venue for season opener!

Stellenbosch FC have taken Kaizer Chiefs a different venue for the two teams’ Betway Premiership season opener.

Stellies had initially penciled DHL Stadium as the venue for their league encounter against Amakhosi on Sunday, 10 August.

However, there is a communique which states that the match will now be played at Athlone Stadium on the same day.

Kick-off is still at 17:30.

Stellies usually play their home games at Danie Craven in Stellenbosch but the pitch is reportedly undergoing rehabilitation.

And with Stellies being the only Western Cape team in the Betway Premiership, they have the luxury to play at any stadium within the province.

Stellies will be seeking revenge after they twice lost to Chiefs in the league last season.

In March, the Soweto giants showed great dominance over Stellies, beating them 3-1 in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals.
