Quiet transfer window at Naturena

Posted on December 30, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs often dominate the headlines when it comes to transfer window signings. However, this looks set to change in 2026.

The upcoming January transfer window may represent something of a new experience for Amakhosi fans.

KAIZER CHIEFS INSIDER REPORTS NO TRANSFER PLANS FOR JANUARY

Every transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs fans are glued to their phones in anticipation of Amakhosi’s next move.

There is as much interest in who they are going to sign as there is in which players will be leaving Naturena.

However, next month’s PSL transfer window could have little to no activity for Amakhosi fans.

This comes after reports claiming that Kaizer Chiefs will not be signing anyone new.

“I don’t think Chiefs is going to sign. Who do you sign? To come and do what?  If you are saying you are signing, then for which position? You are signing a striker; you have too many of them. Midfield, you can’t. Defensive you can’t because there are. And these are not guys who are playing currently,” the insider told Soccer Laduma.

AMAKHOSI TO BUILD SQUAD DEPTH FROM WITHIN

Kaizer Chiefs have recruited players across every position in recent seasons.

Therefore, the insider believes they do not need to sign anyone new.

“I mean, you see the midfield is now packed. George Matlou is now a regular. Now he’s playing. I mean that George and Lebohang (Maboe). You still have, Mshini (Nkosingiphile Ngcobo). At the right back, Reeve Frosler is not even playing. Then you also have a fit Thabiso Monyane as well on the right back. Then Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango are back. You have Bradley Cross on the left with Nkanyiso Shinga, who hasn’t played a game yet, and he is an international player. And on the wing, it was lacking, but it’s sorted now. We have Asanele Velebayi and Lilepo back from injury, and Luke Baartman also did well against TS Galaxy. So, there is no need to sign any player for now,” he added.

Latest standings

As a reminder, Kaizer Chiefs are in fourth place in the Betway Premiership standings as the season enjoys a break for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

The Soweto giants have 24 points after 13 matches. They trail rivals Orlando Pirates by four points, while the Buccaneers also have a game in hand.

Kaizer Chiefs will next be in league action in a home fixture against Golden Arrows on Tuesday, 20 January. Kick-off is at 19:30.
