Pirates fans buzz after Mofokeng brilliance

Posted on February 1, 2026

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng inspired the Buccaneers to a 2-0 win over Magesi FC on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old winger provided an assist and scored a goal as his side climbed to second in the Betway Premiership. Yanela Mbuthuma opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Mofokeng added a second to give Pirates all three points at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Coming into the match, the Sea Robbers needed three points to go level on points with log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Having drawn against Sekhukhune United last weekend, the pressure was on Ouaddou’s men to get maximum points.

Mofokeng, who has not had a good season for Pirates was behind most of Bucs’ attacks and could have had a hat-trick of assists had his teammates been clinical.

With two goals and four assists, the speedy winger has looked sharp since recovering from an injury late last year. He scored the winner in the Carling Knockout Cup final last month against Marumo Gallants.

Pirates fans happy to see Rele Mofokeng on the score sheet

“Mofokeng really showed up today. Our boys are selfish and not clinical in front of goals. Otherwise, we take a win. Ndaba needs to catch a wake, Appollis was not there, De Jong we know what you’re capable of,” @KgomoMalope tweeted.

“Rele Mofokeng is back. What a brilliant pass from Appollis & a the finish from Mbuthuma. This brings that music vibe. Orlando Pirates should just finish off Magesi as quickly as possible,”@BhekuyiseM31516 tweeted.

“Pirates should bring back jersey number 10 and give it to Mofokeng,” @NjaloSyabangena tweeted.

Can Mofokeng continue with his good form?
