Pirates Coach On Not Conceding In Seven Matches

Posted on October 3, 2025

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has attributed their impressive seven league clean sheets to his experience filtering down to the players.

The Buccaneers beat TS Galaxy 2-0 eSgodini on Tuesday night courtesy of a first-half Evidence Makgopa penalty and Tshegofatso Mabasa’s late header.

Pirates moved third on the Betway Premiership standings and Ouaddou reckons that his experience has taught him a lot about being cautious in shutting the door at the back when they chip in goals on the other end.

“Of course I was a defender, but a defender who like the game. Who like to play, who likes fast football, fast passes,” he told the media after the match.

“And I’m not only focused on the defence, but like I told you, football I see it with my own vision.

“You have to be efficient in the area of the through, and the area of the through is the two boxes. It’s very important for me. Even we score three, four goals, I’m very, very careful about how we defend.

“And of course I played 17 years at the high level, so I had all the time, the game face to me I had a lot of expectation when I was playing when I was captain from my strikers.

“So, I just try to use my experience as a player, when I was coach to bring it to my club here.”

The Buccaneers have scored 14 goals in seven matches, winning all seven without conceding.
