Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen says fans can look forward to seeing better build-ups from the back, from the side in the upcoming season because there is better understanding and trust among players.
Petersen was in goals for Chiefs in the preseason match against Asante Kotoko where they lost 3-2 on penalties to the Ghanaian outfit.
Petersen reckons the Toyota Cup match and the preseason friendlies in Holland showed how the players trust each other now and are in alignment which will show when the season starts.
“If you compare last season, like from the start of pre-season to obviously this season, last season it was new coaches, new technical team, new ideas, all of that,” said Petersen on SABC TV.
“Not 100% sure what we want to do, where we want to be, where we’re supposed to be, but I think this season, starting now, from this pre-season, people could see that there’s so much more trust and understanding in the game plan, knowing what we want to do. And I think the main part is understanding your role and the responsibility within the system.
“And I think this season, you can see that the guys are understanding that and that gives us that confidence to be able to stick to the game plan and do what we know we can do and show the people that this is what we’ve been working on, and we can do it. So, I know for a fact that from here, we’re just going to get better.
“Yes, there’s still a few things we need to fix in the build-up, but as you can see, there’s so much improvement and progress. So definitely for sure this season you’ll see us more confident playing out from the back and obviously the saving attacks and keeping the ball.”
