Ouaddou on his second Pirates final in four months

Posted on November 9, 2025

Just two months after lifting the MTN8, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s Pirates have grabbed a ticket for the Carling Knockout final after a 1-0 win over Richards Bay.

A first-half strike from Tshepang Moremi was enough to see the Sea Robbers sail into the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

NOT THE BEST DISPLAY FROM PIRATES

According to the French-Moroccan tactician, it was never a classic performance, but it was the kind of gritty performance that gets you into finals.

“I can’t say we had a fantastic game in terms of beautiful football,” Ouaddou told the media after the clash. “But it’s a cup game, we saw a strong team with good organisation and discipline.

“My players showed great resilience. Sometimes that’s all you need to reach the finals. It was a strong team performance throughout,” the Pirates mentor added.

Amabhakabhaka will face the winner in the second semifinal between Golden Arrows and Marumo Gallants at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

NEXT GAME FOR THE BUCCANEERS

Moving on, the Sea Robbers reset as the FIFA break kicks off for the next two weeks. Bafana Bafana will battle Zambia’s Chipolopolo in an international friendly at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Saturday, 15 November.

Pirates will return to the match on green grass on Tuesday, 25 November, at home to Chippa United in the Betway Premiership.
