Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has lauded Oswin Appollis for his standout debut, but made it clear that the talented winger still has much to learn tactically.
The 23-year-old Bafana winger delivered immediate impact at Orlando Stadium, scoring the opening goal and earning a penalty that led to the second in a 2–0 win over his former club, Polokwane City.
The new Orlando Pirates number 12’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award and won over the Buccaneers’ faithful instantly.

Sundowns to make big announcements
According to Ouaddou, Appollis is a joy to watch with his attacking instincts, but his development is far from complete.
“I played against Appollis when I was with my previous club, so I know his qualities and I won’t change him,” said the Moroccan coach via Kick Off. “But as a former professional and now as a coach, my job is to help him reach the highest level. That means disciplining him and giving him tactical education.
Released Orlando Pirates striker joining fourth PSL club?
“We don’t use him only for transitions. He must come between the lines, make deep runs, switch sides—he has to be a dynamic player. Not one who waits out wide for the ball,” added the Orlando Pirates mentor.
