Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye says he wasn’t worried about Cape Town City’s court appeals as his side earned their right to be in the Betway Premiership, while Monnapule Saleng will add leadership skills to his squad.
Orbit joined the elite league via the promotional playoffs, upsetting the Citizens who were seen as the favourites in the three-team mini tournament.
City have since tried to get reinstated over a case involving Marumo Gallants and the improper registration of Monde Mpambaniso. However, Gallants were only fined R200,000 – R100,000 which was suspended and not docked any points by the PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu.
“No, we were not worried because we knew we won fair and scare on the field,” he said at the official Betway Premiership launch.
“And we deserve to be here like everybody. We had worked all season, even in the playoffs we had to work hard to claim our space – we were not so worried about it [the case].”
Makhoye also expressed his excitement about the return of Saleng on loan from Orlando Pirates.
“Saleng brings a lot of experience, he left the team as a young boy, he’s coming as a leader now,” he added.
“He understands the culture, he understands the team and he understands his teammates.
“I think we’re bringing exciting youngsters, we just to have fund and enjoy ourselves.”
Orbit kick off their 2025/26 Betway Premiership with an away encounter against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
