Official: Sundowns announce Bafana star

Posted on January 12, 2026

2015/216 CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns have officially confirmed the arrival of Khulumani Ndamane from TS Galaxy.

Kabo Yellow announced the signing on social media with the caption: “NEW COLOURS. NEW JOURNEY. Khulumani Ndamane has officially joined the Yellow Nation. Welcome to the Home of the Champions.”

The move comes as the Tshwane giants continue to refresh their defensive options. Argentine centre-back Lucas Suarez recently departed the club, while veteran defender Mosa Lebusa is in the final months of his contract at Chloorkop.

The 21-year-old from Weenen, KwaZulu-Natal, only turned professional in June 2024, but wasted no time making an impression at top-flight level.

Having come through the Kaizer Chiefs academy and featured regularly in the DStv Diski Challenge, Ndamane opted to leave Naturena in search of first-team football. That decision proved to be a turning point in his career.

ESTABLISHED BETWAY PREMIERSHIP PLAYER AND BAFANA BAFANA INTERNATIONAL

At TS Galaxy, he settled quickly and grew into a regular figure in central defence. In his first full season, Ndamane made over 30 appearances across all competitions.

His consistent performances at club level opened the door to international football. Ndamane earned his first Bafana Bafana call-up and made his senior debut in June 2025.

He was part of the South African squad that qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and featured in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ current group of central defenders includes Keanu Cupido (27), Malibongwe Khoza (21), Grant Kekana (33) and Mothobi Mvala (31), all of whom are right-footed, while Mosa Lebusa (33) and newly signed Khulumani Ndamane (21) provide the left-footed balance at the heart of the defence.
