Nabi Misses Out On Job With African Giants

Posted on January 15, 2026

Former Inter Milan midfielder Sabri Lamouchi has been appointed as the Tunisia head coach, a role previously linked to former Kaizer Chiefs mentor Nasreddine Nabi.

Tunisian coach Nabi left Amakhosi earlier this season and has been without a club for a few months.

He was reportedly a leading candidate for the Carthage Eagles job after former coach Sami Trabelsi was dismissed a day following Tunisia’s Round of 16 exit to Mali at the 2025 AFCON.

Other coaches reportedly linked to the role included Mouin Chaâbani, Maher Kanzari, Nabil Kouki, Khaled Ben Yahia, Hussein Ammouta, Franck Haise, Thierry Henry, and Patrick Vieira.

Tunisia announced that Lamouchi has been appointed to spearhead the team until July 2028.

“The Tunisian Football University announces its contract with coach Sabry Al-Moushi to take over the National Elector Plan until July 31, 2028,” the Federation Tunisienne de Football announced via social media.

The 54-year-old coach’s first major challenge will be preparing the North African side for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Lamouchi has previously coached Ivory Coast, El-Jaish, Stade Rennais, Nottingham Forest, Al-Duhail SC, Cardiff City, Al-Riyadh and Al-Diraiyah FC.
