Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe says it was very tempting to convert Levy Mashiane into a striker due to his unique qualities.
The former Royal AM winger was among the new faces who started for City in their 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in their MTN8 quarter-final on Saturday afternoon.
And he showed glimpses of his potential in the role, with his lanky frame, and impressive touches to bring his teammates into the game.
“With Mashiane it’s a player who has played almost his all his career as a winger, I found it very tempting to use him as a striker, with the qualities he has, he has a great first touch and an eye to see the next player,” he said.
“So, with him playing as a different number nine, he’s going to give us a good movement, with wingers and number 10 joining, the way we want to play. We’re not playing high balls, the way we used to play those long balls.”
Polokwane open their league campaign next week at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium against city rivals Magesi.
