Mohafe Reveals Bet With Bwire

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe has opened up about his bet with goalkeeper Brian Bwire about the number of clean sheets he’d like this season.

Bwire seems to be the trusted man between the poles for the Limpopo side following the departure of Manuel Sapunga. The Kenyan arrived at City last season and played 12 league matches and was in goals when Rise and Shine were eliminated from the MTN8 by Orlando Pirates and also started in the goalless draw against Magesi in the Betway Premiership opener.

Mohafe said the 25-year-old didn’t just accept his challenge of 10 clean sheets, but he also raised his mentor for 15.

“We made a bet with him,” said Mohafe when asked by iDiski Times about the keeper’s performance.

“And he promised me that ‘coach I need to get the clean sheets, and I gave him nine’. I said, no, I need ten clean sheets. Then he said, ‘No I’m challenging you I need 15’.

“So if we can have the 15 clean sheets, then it puts us in a better position not to be relegated.”
