Mbokazi – We Have To Accept It

Posted on December 27, 2025

Bafana Bafana defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi says they need to move on from the Egypt defeat and not cry over spilled milk.

Mbokazi, 20, produced another outstanding display in the heart of the senior national team defence but was on the losing end for the first time in his burgeoning national team career as Egypt secured a 1-0 win from a penalty via Mohamed Salah.

It was a contentious call with Khuliso Mudau’s flailing arm in the area adjudged as a foul and thus affording the North African giants to score the only goal of the game on the brink of half-time.

Despite Mohamed Hany’s red card before the half-time whistle, Egypt managed to hold on and a late penalty call was also dismissed, much to the dismay of head coach Hugo Broos.

“Yeah we also hoped that it was a penalty but we don’t know how the referee’s decided not to give it [penalty], nonetheless we will have to accept their decision and move on to the next match and make sure that we win it,” he said

“We have to move on from the referee’s decision, what happened has happened, we can’t cry over spilled milk, we just have to fight in our next game and get a positive result.”
