We’ve seen this so many times before: SuperSport United’s best players making the short moves across Tshwane to Mamelodi Sundowns. This time it is Thapelo Maseko.

Having made his name last season, including a few Bafana Bafana call-ups, the 19-year-old winger has joined Kabo Yellow in Chloorkop, beating Belgian club Westerlo with bigger fee offer.

“The wait is over!. 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗸𝗼!” Sundowns announced via Twitter.

“Masandawana, let’s make our new signing feel at home and show him how it feels to be part of our family!”

Who is Thapelo Maseko?

Thapelo Maseko is a SuperSport DStv Diski Challenge graduate. He was born on 11 November 2002, meaning he turns 20 later this year. His preferred position is playing as an attacking midfielder. However, he can be deployed in the heart of midfield.

Last season he played a huge role for the Thabo September-led reserves team in the DDC. Matsatsantsa finished second behind champions Stellenbosch FC.

For his hard work, dedication and consistent performances in the field of play, he was promoted to the senior team.
