Makaab Reveals Truth Behind Mbule’s Shock Move to Pirates – Why Chiefs Missed Out

In an explosive revelation, agent Mike Makaab has detailed how Orlando Pirates pulled off the signing of Sipho Mbule – and why Kaizer Chiefs failed in their pursuit of the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.

The 26-year-old midfielder became a free agent on June 1 after Sundowns declined to renew his contract, sparking a fierce battle for his signature. Speaking exclusively to iDiski Times, Makaab set the record straight on the transfer saga.

Clean Deal, No Backroom Talks
Makaab emphasized that Mbule’s camp followed ethical protocols. “We didn’t engage any club until his Sundowns contract expired. No underhanded dealings – that’s not how we operate,” he stated.

Chiefs Had Their Chance
Contrary to fan theories, Makaab confirmed Mbule was offered to Amakhosi. “Yes, we presented him to Kaizer Chiefs. But clubs make their own choices – not agents or supporters,” he said, hinting that Chiefs’ hesitation cost them the deal.

Why Pirates Won the Race
Despite lucrative interest from North Africa and the Middle East – including three Dubai-based clubs – Mbule chose Pirates. “Sipho is still a top talent, and Pirates moved decisively,” Makaab explained. “He wanted to prove himself again in the PSL.”

Agent Denies Favoritism Claims
With Chiefs fans crying foul, Makaab shot down accusations of bias. “The notion that I favor certain clubs is nonsense. I don’t create fake bidding wars – my job is to get the best for my players.” He also dismissed claims that agents artificially inflate player demand.

Fallout for Chiefs
The transfer has left Amakhosi supporters fuming, as their club missed out on a high-calibre midfielder available for free. Meanwhile, Pirates fans are celebrating what could be one of the coups of the transfer window.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Mbule to see if he can reignite his career at Pirates – and whether Chiefs’ transfer misstep will come back to haunt them.
