Magesi FC head coach John Maduka has revealed that goalkeeper and club captain Elvis Chipezeze was absent from their season opener against Polokwane City due to work permit issues.
Mbali Tshabalala started in the absence of the 2024 Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament and kept a clean sheet in the Limpopo Derby.
Maduka said management are busy sorting out Chipezeze’s work permit, and he hopes to have the Zimbabwe international soon though he was also pleased with Tshabalala’s brave performance when they didn’t have any back-up on the bench on the day.
“It’s more of a paperwork which they are busy with it,” Maduka answered iDiski Times when asked about Chipezeze’s absence.
“Remember he’s from Zimbabwe, so there is work permit that is involved and all that, but the management are busy with that, and we hope that it’s sorted quicker, sooner. We are happy also with Mbali Tshabalala he did well.
“He did very well; he played with confidence and again, not easy, especially when you don’t have anyone else on the bench that is going to go in. But he managed to maintain his confidence. And he made good saves also here and there which we are happy with.”
