Khanye – Three Clubs That Could Sign Lepasa

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has named three clubs who should look to sign Zakhele Lepasa after his Orlando Pirates exit.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after Pirates announced his departure on Friday having spent the last season side-lined with injury.

Lepasa was promoted from the Buccaneers academy structures in 2018 but was sent on three different loans in his tenure to Stellenbosch FC, TS Galaxy and SuperSport United. He leaves the side having scored 15 goals with two assists in 64 games in black and white.

Khanye believes that newcomers Orbit College, Sekhukhune United and Siwelele FC are good options for the Bafana Bafana international.

“For him to not put himself under pressure, there’s Orbit,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“They have just arrived and they need to settle. He should go there and be with [Monnapule] Saleng as a former teammate, I mean they both understand each other. I think he needs to start afresh.

“You know when you don’t play the value goes down. We know Lepasa, he has set a standard we‘ve seen him at TS Galaxy, at Pirates and at SuperSport. And for the fact that he was signed by Orlando Pirates we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

“So Orbit or Sekhukhune, who love these big names especially from Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns, and another thing he is still eager. In South Africa when a player is released by Pirates or Chiefs and is 32, 33 we tend to give up on them. If he is eager why not sign him.

“He can still play for another 12 years if he looks after himself. So Sekhukhune might sign him and they can afford to pay him but I see him at Orbit or he can even go to Siwelele. Go there [Lehlohonolo] Seema will give him a chance.”
