Kaze On Ntwari’s Sub Refusal In Stellies Loss

Posted on October 5, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has spoken out on the substitute confusion between goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari and Bruce Bvuma prior to the penalty shootout defeat against Stellenbosch FC.

Ntwari made his first start of the season for Amakhosi since November 2024 and kept a clean sheet in 90 minutes plus extra-time. And despite saving the first spot kick, Tashreeq Morris and Dillan Solomons missed their penalties to hand Stellies the 5-4 win.

Speaking after the match, Kaze says Ntwari felt confident enough that he would be the penalty hero despite the technical team’s decision to let Bvuma do the penalty stops.

“I believe in those kind of situation, it’s something that we’re gonna handle internally,” he said.

“He [Ntwari] said that he feels confident to continue. He was comfortable to go on and for the penalty and help the team. He was coming from a good intention, maybe the way he wasn’t as good as it should be, but it’s something that we will address.

“We move on and we gonna prepare the next games.”
