Kaizer Chiefs’ path to signing former Cape Town Spurs star Asanele Velebayi has been cleared!

“PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber has finally delivered a ruling on Asanele Velebayi, declaring him a free agent,” SABC Sport’s Mazola Molefe revealed.

What this means for Kaizer Chiefs is that Velebayi is now cleared to join them on a free transfer!

Velebayi was tipped to join the Glamour Boys before their pre-season camp however the legal battle put the transfer on hold. Here’s what Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung had to say at the time.

“I think what’s important is that we are in the business of doing things in a way that’s not going to interfere with other clubs,” the Kaizer Chiefs boss said as quoted by FARPost.

“We want to follow certain procedures, and that relates to any other players that we’re looking at. We’re taking a very professional approach to integrating and bringing players into the team. We’ll ensure that we only make announcements when the time is right. So, watch the space.”
